Service 23 / 23A – Temporary Diversions Notice

Road Closures:

  • Moseley Road (Service 23): Closed 09:30–14:30, from 18 Aug to 1 Sep.

  • Cumberland Road (Service 23A): Closed 09:30–15:30, from 20 Aug to 5 Sep.

Diversion Route (Both Directions):
Green Lane → Proud Lane → Mountfort Road → Central Avenue → Holland Road → Resume normal route.

Important Dates:

  • 18–19 Aug: Service 23 follows Service 23A’s route.

  • 20 Aug – 1 Sep: Both services follow the diversion.

  • 2–5 Sep: Service 23A follows Service 23’s route.

Lichfield Road Closure – Walsall

Dates: 1–8 August 2025 (TBC)
Location: Lichfield Road, Walsall
Reason: CC19 roadworks

Please note that Lichfield Road will be closed for planned roadworks from 1 to 8 August (dates to be confirmed).

Service Disruption Notice – Service 224 Diversion

Please be advised that Service 224 will be diverted due to operational requirements. The service will operate via the Farrington Road loop in the opposite direction, then continue along Dovedale Road and join the A459, proceeding directly to Sedgley. Passengers on Gorge Road will still be able to access alternative services, including Service 229.

Oldbury – Causesway Green Road / Wolverhampton Road

We have just been notified of a road closure – Causeway Green Road is inaccessible from Wolverhampton RD at the Causeway Green Rd main junction in all directions.
This has just been set up and diversions are in place from all directions – severe congestion and delays should be expected. Traffic is passing as normal along Causeway Green Rd from Langley towards Wolverhampton Rd

Temporary Prohibition Of Vehicular Traffic – Notice 2025

Notice is hereby given that Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council has made this Notice, the effect of which will be to prevent any vehicle from proceeding along that length of carriageway of Forest Lane, Walsall that is situated from its junction with B4210 Bloxwich Road to its junction with Webster Road. A signed diversion route will be in operation for affected traffic and access to adjacent properties and for emergency vehicles will be maintained wherever it is safe and possible to do so. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this Notice will be signed via Webster Road, Kent Street, Essex Street and B4210 Bloxwich Road and vice versa. This Notice will come into operation on Tuesday 3 June 2025 and will remain in force for a period of 21 days only. The temporary prohibition of traffic is appropriate to ensure that a contractor working on behalf of Walsall Council can undertake highway maintenance work in a safe manner. It is expected that the work will take place from 0800 (8.00 am) to 1500 (3.00 pm) on Tuesday 3 June 2025
only.

Blackheath Market Place Works – Phase 2

Phase 1 of the scheme, the night time road closures in the town centre, will end on Friday 9 May. All the planned works will have been completed successfully.
Phase 2 of the construction works will commence on Monday 12 May with temporary three way traffic signals. Vehicles will not be able to access Birmingham Road from Oldbury Road, however, Acorns’ car park and the on-street parking in Oldbury Road will be maintained at all times. These temporary arrangements will be in place for 20 weeks and the construction works will be undertaken Monday – Friday, between the hours of 7am – 4pm.

While works are only taking place between the above times, traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works, hence the need to divert your service.

Please find attached details of the National Express diversion for service 3 during this time, please could you submit another variation for service 3, commencing on Monday 12th May to the same effect? (If you specify an end date of Sunday 28th  September 2025, this would seem most appropriate/likely given the start date and anticipated duration of the works).

Walsall Preventative Highway Maintenance Programme 2025

Please be aware that the yearly Preventative Highway Maintenance programme across the borough will commence on Monday 28 April 2025. The road affected will be treated twice, firstly a surface dressing is applied and approximately a week later a further treatment seals the surface. The work is short term in nature but will require road closures throughout, so drivers are advised are advised to consider their journeys and plan suitable alternative routes. Long delays are expected.

Annual Walsall Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan procession

Please be aware that the annual Walsall Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan procession will be taking place on Sunday 13 April 2025 and will involve the use of main and side road closures as the event takes place on the route detailed below.

The route will be as follows:- West Bromwich Street, Corporation Street, Wednesbury Road, A4038 Darlaston Road, Wellington Street (where the procession will halt for sixty minutes) before continuing on A4148 Pleck Road, Rollingmill Street (where the procession will halt for thirty minutes) before proceeding along Corporation Street West and Corporation Street concluding at the temple on West Bromwich Street.

It is expected that the procession will start at approximately 1000 (10.00 am) and conclude at 1400 (2.00 pm).

Long delays to through traffic are expected. Drivers are advised to consider the use of alternative routes and access or leave Walsall town centre from the east wherever possible.
